A Light That Speaks – a Legacy in Porcelain
A Light That Speaks – a Legacy in Porcelain
These windlights are more than decorative objects. They are illuminated sculptures, each carrying a powerful message hidden in their form. The design is as poetic as it is purposeful. At first, when unlit, the rhino symbol remains barely visible – is faint, fragile, almost disappearing into the background. But once you light the candle within, the rhino silhouette emerges – clear, bright and vibrant. This transformation symbolizes what is at stake: if we do nothing, endangered species like the rhino will fade into silence and disappear. But with awareness, with action – with light — and support – we can bring them back into view and protect what cannot be replaced.
Rea Windlights
Available in two sizes: 9 cm (Ø) x 9 cm (H) 11 cm (Ø) x 10.5 cm (H)
No two are exactly alike — each bears the unique touch of the artisan’s hand.
Each piece is accompanied by an individually numbered ‘certificate of authenticity’.
All products are handmade A-Z by studio Stockmans in Genk (Belgium), material hardporcelain.

This porcelain rhino called Rea is masterfully handcrafted by the legendary Belgian atelier, Studio Pieter Stockmans. Each sculpture is shaped by human hands – never identical, always unique.
Rea is more than a symbol. It carries a message in its shape. Its bold, oversized horn draws attention to the very issue threatening the species: the brutal slaughter of rhinos for profit. A species hunted to the edge of extinction for a single, senseless prize. Yet within its form lies a message of awareness, urgency and above all, hope. A belief that change is still possible. A reminder that there is still time to protect what cannot be replaced.
Rea is a South Sotho name meaning “we survive.” Across Africa, many young rhinos are left orphaned due to poaching. Yet through tireless conservation efforts, some survive – nurtured, protected, and given a second chance. This sculpture is a tribute to their resilience, and a reminder that with care and action, survival is still possible.
