The Solution

The Matlabas Education Center, is supported by Ubuntu Alliance / Quaestor International BV, to provide the necessary resources and opportunities for those eager to grow and succeed. Located in Matlabas village, this center will serve as an after-school resource and tutoring facility for primary and high school students. In the evenings, adult education programs will be offered, covering essential skills like financial literacy and leadership. Additionally, environmental education workshops will raise awareness about conservation. The center will also serve as a platform to identify potential and provide support through bursaries, internships, and application assistance.

The Need

Access to quality education is a significant challenge in the region. While an early childhood development (ECD) facility is in place, sustainability remains a concern—what happens next? Local schools are overcrowded and under-resourced, making it difficult for children to receive the support they need to succeed. Many adults have not completed their education, highlighting the need for additional learning opportunities in areas such as financial literacy and leadership. Furthermore, both children and adults have little exposure to environmental awareness and conservation, limiting their understanding of the importance of protecting their natural heritage.
